Discover the winners of Start Cup Piemonte Valle d'Aosta 2020

U-Care Medical takes the podium; second place for ALBA Robot and third place for DDC Drug. 4th place: Nanoremediation 4.0, Health Triage and Inferendo.

With the awards ceremony held on October 23, for the first time in streaming, Start Cup Piemonte Valle d'Aosta 2020, the competition for the entrepreneurs of tomorrow now in its sixteenth edition, came to an end. Its total prize of 60,000 euros was won by projects and startups operating in different sectors.

First place went to U-Care Medical, a startup project supported by I3P, which won the top prize thanks to its project to produce and market hardware and software for the predictive diagnosis of acute kidney failure.

ALBA Robot, a startup incubated at I3P since this year, won the second step of the podium with its project of developing a robotic platform to make wheelchairs smarter and self-driving. Thanks to its project, the startup also won the "Social Innovation" Special Mention.

In third place was DDC Drug - Discovery Development and Clinics, a startup incubated in 2i3T, which is developing a new drug for the treatment of acute myeloid leukemia (AML), which may also be applied in the Covid-19 setting and also in the case of new pandemic scenarios.

In fourth place, ex-aequo, were classified:

  • Nanoremediation 4.0, with its innovative method for the remediation of contaminated aquifers; 

  • Health Triage, with its AI-based informatics tools to support clinical decisions and reduce reporting time and costs;

  • Inferendo, an Enne3 startup that has developed a system to predict the user behavior on e-commerce sites in order to propose products in which customers are interested. The startup also won the "Open Innovation / Industrial Spin-offs" Special Mention.


These projects are also the six finalists who will have the opportunity to compete in the PNI - National Innovation Award 2020, which will be held online on November 30 and December 4, 2020.

Among the prizes awarded during the award ceremony there were also those offered by the sponsors of Start Cup Piemonte Valle d'Aosta 2020:

  • Premio Valle d'Aosta, offered by the Autonomous Region of Valle d'Aosta, to Le-gowall, which has developed an integration to make heating and cooling systems more efficient;

  • Premio Cuneo, awarded by CRC Foundation, to Horizon, for its idea to manage vineyards through AI algorithms;

  • Premio Metroconsult, to PipeIn, with its technological solution capable of reducing the time to locate leaks along industrial networks, and to Sunspeker, with its solar advertising totem that self-produces clean energy and integrates connectivity;

  • Premio CLAB Torino, offered by Contamination Lab Torino, went to Mechané, which proposes software to simplify bureaucracy in healthcare by putting the patient at the center;

  • Premio Covid-19, offered by the Piedmont Region, went to Intravides, incubated in 2i3T, with its augmented reality software solution to support the surgeon to enable remote participation in surgical operations.

Finally, the "Equal Opportunities" Special Mention went to Cocooners, which intends to develop a platform of content, products and services for the over 55s.
